Scholars, policy experts and academics from across the country deliberate on democracy, governance and public life in New Delhi

New Delhi [India], March 17: The Political Science Society successfully organized the Political Science Conclave at the India International Centre. The two-day conference brought together scholars, policy experts and professionals from across the country to deliberate on key questions related to political thought and public life in contemporary India.

The conclave was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, Sukanta Majumdar, who attended as the Chief Guest. The inaugural session featured Ram Madhav as the keynote speaker. On the occasion, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Sanjeev Chopra were present as special guests. The session was chaired by noted political scientist and former Professor and Head of the Department at Delhi University, Prof. M. P. Singh.

Over the course of two days, the conference hosted several plenary sessions and thematic discussions with participation from leading voices in academia, policy institutions, media and civil society. Prominent participants included Dr. M. R. Madhavan from PRS Legislative Research, Dr. Niranjan Sahoo from Observer Research Foundation, renowned author and public intellectual Gurcharan Das, and economist Ashwani Mahajan.

Senior academics including Prof. Ashok Acharya, Prof. Pampa Mukherjee and Prof. Ashutosh Kumar from Delhi University also shared their insights during various sessions. The presence of representatives from the Hanns Seidel Foundation and noted educator Mrs. Shubhra Ranjan from the Institute for Humanities added further depth to the discussions. Vice-chancellors and senior academics from several universities across the country also participated in the deliberations.

The concluding session of the conclave was attended by Ram Bahadur Rai, K. N. Srivastava, Member of Parliament from Jajpur R. N. Behera, and Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University.

In addition to the plenary sessions, the conference also hosted special track sessions and workshops in collaboration with India Foundation, Rishihood University, Miranda House (University of Delhi), Hindu College (University of Delhi), Ground Zero Consulting and Manthan Learning. These sessions focused on themes such as policy innovation, leadership and institutional development.

The academic segment of the conclave featured more than 150 research paper presentations across 12 parallel sessions. Overall, the event witnessed participation from over 300 delegates and more than 50 speakers, including academics, representatives from the non-profit sector, government officials and media professionals.

The conclave was convened by Prof. Rekha Saxena, senior professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at Delhi University, while Dr. Swadesh Singh, Assistant Professor at Delhi University, played a key role as the co-convenor of the event.
