Youth becomes the first to make a documentary on Keonjhar District: Odisha

Soumyajit Dash (Raj) has successfully made the very first documentary on Keonjhar. The boy hails from the Odisha district of Keonjhar. Keonjhar is one of the major mineral-producing Districts of Odisha. Iron ore, Manganese ore, Chromate, Quartzite, Bauxite, Gold, Pyrophillite and Lime Stone are the major minerals found in this District. Athudi, Bhuiyan, Juang, Gond, Kol, Santal, Sounti & Munda are the major tribal communities living in the area. Before India’s independence, Kendujhar (then known as Keonjhar) was one of the princely Orissa states. Kendujhar is home to mighty hills, old temples, and cascading waterfalls which makes it a beautiful offbeat destination. Soumyajit has beautifully captured the pictures and videos of his hometown and has done justice to the history and culture of his home Keonjhar.

Soumyajit (Raj) has won many photography competitions and loves to click and capture moments. The adolescent created history as he completed two short documentary films within seven months.  His documentaries include Kendujhargarh (City of Peace) and The Natural Beauty of Keonjhar.

Soumyajit (Raj) says that he is a lover of photography and loves to capture pictures of moments in his surroundings every day. Awarded as the Asia Icon Best Photographer he is making a mark in the documentary world and photography. Soumyajit (Raj) also won the award for the First Short Documentary film of Keonjhar. The nineteen-year-old has received awards from Global Photography Competition, Snap Photography Competition Session, and many more.

He is surely an inspiration to many. We need more such people contributing to society through their talents and creativity.
